Kel O'Neill is currently the Sundance New Frontier Artist-In-Residence at LA's Technicolor Experience Center. He also serves as Chief Strategist for Ikona, a medical VR/AR startup based in NY.
Kel created PBS’s Emmy-nominated, Webby-honored interactive documentary 'Empire' (IDFA Doclab 2014) and won the 2015 Tim Hetherington Visionary Award for his VR documentary 'The Ark' (Tribeca 2016). He is a 2017 Eisenhower Fellow and served from 2014-2017 as Advisor and Senior Fellow at The Economist Media Lab. While with The Economist, he launched their VR app and was creative lead on the piece 'Oceans VR: Net Positive' (New York Film Festival 2016).
Kel founded the LA chapter of the global immersive media community StoryCode, and is a consultant and mentor at Film Independent. He speaks frequently about the future of media at events like SXSW, MIT Hacking Arts, and Magnum’s Photography Expanded Symposium.
